Department Profile:
Institutional and Corporate Technology (ICT) is comprised of several client-aligned groups that provide technology solutions for enterprise-wide divisions such as Legal & Compliance, Finance and Firm Risk, as well as the Post-Trade function within the Institutional Securities Division. The Operations and Compliance Technology (OCT) group within ICT consists of a set of Practice Areas which develop and supports systems used to automate global operations business processes, such as settlement and book keeping, which occur once a trade is booked and confirmed with the client.
Team Profile:
Operations Technology develops and maintains systems in support of Morgan Stanley's global Operations business processes, including (but not limited to) Settlements, Confirmations, Regulatory Reporting, Position Keeping and other post-trade functions. Operations Technology is a global organization that is client-focused and functionally aligned. Our organization is built to support our clients functional, regional and business facing requirements while delivering innovative technology and ensuring plant and processing stability.
Primary Responsibilities:
We are looking for an experienced Java developer to join the Position Services team. The candidate will work within a SCRUM agile team and contribute to the design and development of functions requested by our users. An understanding of basic financial concepts is preferred and understanding of corporate actions processing would be an added advantage.
The candidate is expected to be able to communicate well, voice their opinion, adapt rapidly and learn fast. Sound judgment will be required to understand requirements, design appropriate solutions, and develop the underlying implementation. The candidate is also expected to show ownership of tasks and should be someone who will take it to completion
The candidate's daily responsibilities are:
- Designing and developing high performance applications - both server-side and client-side
- Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
- Write well designed, testable, efficient code
- Write and execute Unit and Integration testing and record test cases and results.
- Ensure designs are in compliance with specifications
Skills required (essential):
The candidate should have the following skills:
- Excellent Java programming knowledge
- Spring Framework
- Web development (eg RESTful services, Tomcat)
- Experience with databases and SQL (DB2, Sybase)
- Java Messaging – Both Point to Point and Publish Subscribe(IBM MQ Series)
Skills desired
Good understanding / experience in the following technologies would be a plus:
- Agile Methodologies
- Data Modelling / UML
- C# Programming
- Extjs
- Knowledge of Unix Shell scripting
- Knowledge of Autosys
Experience Level
- 5+Years
