MS SQL Database SME
PURPOSE OF ROLE: SME with 10+ years of experience in SQL Systems DBA role and supporting activities. Should have Excellent communication and Team lead skills. Hands on experience & understanding of server/storage/network for the Unix/Oracle platform. Excellent Programming and/or scripting skills. A Global team player with positive attitude and coordinations skills. Open for 24x7 support.
Responsibilities:
This resource will provide MS SQL DBA support for various MS SQL databases. The DBA performs database structure and software maintenance and implementations. The DBA also supports database basic tuning and consultation, assists with database configuration implementation, scripts creation and test plans execution. This person will also be participating in incident, change and problem management activities. Here are the desirable qualification:
Skills and Responsibilities:
Mandatory:
- At least 8-13 years of DBA experience administering SQL Server relational database applications with complex IT Production environments, including storage (NTFS, SAN, Filegroups) and backup & recovery operations (Backup DB, Exports) and SQL Server Management Studio
- At least 3 years of experience creating scripts, testing in QA and implementing large data updates into databases.
- At least 1 of experience in application development with T-SQL.
- Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring and supporting database servers.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documentation, professional journals, technical specifications and project management documentation.
- At least one year of experience in backup systems like TSM or BackupExec
- Experience with data processing flowcharting techniques
- Experience with Microsoft Windows
- Good knowledge in hardware and storage systems
- Relevant technical skills in virtualization (VMWare)
- Strong technical documentation skills.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrate ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to develop systematic testing plans for problem resolution.
Strongly wished:
- SQL Server Replications, Mirroring, Clustering, Resource Governor, Policies are a plus.
- SQL Server Analysis Services, Reporting Services, Integration Services are a plus.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
