JOB ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Person description

This role requires an experienced, self-motivated engineer, who can deliver exceptional quality and great service to customers on Windows, VMWare and Cloud operations.  Clear communication skills are essential (both written and verbal) and experience dealing with western companies is highly desirable.  The role has significant growth potential for Windows SMEs who demonstrate consistently high quality, meet targets and work with others to coach and mentor junior team members.

 

Job Specific Knowledge & Skills

 - 6+ years of hands on experience in Windows and VMware administration

 - Expertise on Windows 2003, 2008 and 2012 server platforms.

- Expertise in management and administration of AD, DNS, DHCP, WINS,

 - Hardening of windows servers using standard security best practices

- Patch management

 - Administration and troubleshooting of IIS 6/7/8 environments, deploy applications and Virtual hosting.

- Should possess good understanding of email messaging systems.  Experience in managing and administering of Exchange would be an added advantage

- Experience in Monitoring tools  Like (Nagios ,Fusion Reactor)and knowledge on Load Balancers (BIGIP/F5)

- Experience in cloud setups and migrations – AWS/Azure

 - Demonstrated experience with common server-administration tasks for an enterprise-level organization, including automated installation, system upgrades and updates, software management, troubleshoot hardware and software issues, as well as maintaining stable production, testing, and development environments in support.

- Upgrade server environments by properly planning the transition and executing the plan.                                                                                                                 

 - Should possess Level 3/Level 4 support skills on Windows/Systems administration

- Documentation of Operation manual for implemented systems

- Documentation of policies and templates, SOPs around infrastructure documents

- Excellent verbal and written communication to understand a problem, reassure a customer and confidently propose artefacts as a part of solving issues (essential).

- Ability to communicate technical issues to non technical customers (essential).

- Can influence/steer a customer down a chosen thought process with confidence.

- Propose and present improvement ideas confidently to customers (desired)

 

Customer Focus

- Ideally has experience working with internal or external customer who is based in Europe/the US so understands the cultural significance in technical administration (highly desirable).

- Experience dealing with difficult customers who are working under pressure. This could include frustration, angry, priority technical issues.

- Build rapport with customer and increase their confidence on the individual’s performance.

- Recognizes the importance of delivering excellent customer service.

 

Planning & Organizing

- Is able to manage own work load and can demonstrate where he/she has prioritized effectively in previous role (essential).

- Ability to demonstrate having met SLA’s in a previous role (essential).

- Ability to manage multiple issues without reducing the quality of service delivered to customers (essential).

 

Problem Solving

- Ability to demonstrate knowledge and troubleshooting skills on technical issues (essential).

- Ability to approach technical problems in a logical and methodical way, leading to the shortest possible time to resolve an issue (essential).

- Demonstrating sound problem solving skills via practical test, role play or question sheet.

 

Improvement Focus

- Ability to refine processes and ways of working to improve service to customers.

- Ability to investigate, research and propose improvements to client-side server environments

- Identified and implemented improvements to working practice in previous roles [highly desirable]

- Experience with change management principles and procedures (desired)
