Position:Software Development Manager
Position Summary: The Software Development Manager leads the software development team in planning and strategizing for multiple projects, products and deliverables. The manager will be responsible for managing these projects, making detailed plans to accomplish development goals, apply appropriate resources, and manage the people on the development team. This position will directly report to the Director of Engineering.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
Responsible for technical development management of multiple projects & products
Creates detailed development plans, prioritizes work assignments and assigns projects based on available resources
Writes comprehensive and understandable specifications from basic requirements and use cases, working closely with product management & lead technical staff
Implements operational and strategic policies with directives
Provides guidance within Agile and SCRUM methodologies to subordinates to help achieve goals
Latitude and creativity is appreciated but measurability required
Ensures development team is following defined development process throughout the product lifecycle to achieve delivery dates on time with quality
Help define new processes as needed for the R&D organization
Evaluating and addressing Ivanti Service Manager (ISM) software issues based on business requirements
Sets clear objectives for direct reports and compares deliverables against objectives
Delivers appropriate and timely performance and annual reviews
Interviews for and hires to fill open positions within the team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills and Experience:
10 plus years experience in a related field
2 years experience with leadership responsibility
Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology; including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
Must be able to effectively motivate direct reports in accomplishing team objectives
Must be able to help mentor and provide individual development guidance
Monitoring/Assessing performance of other individuals to make improvements or take corrective action
Experienced development management skills
Must be able to work effectively across team boundaries, receiving and delivering requirements from multiple teams in the organization
Experience of all lifecycle of software development designing Requirement Definition Document, Database Design and Functional Specification through to development, testing QA and release in the large projects
Strong organizational skills with ability to handle various tasks; attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills
Must be able to work well with others as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
Management Training and Experience is highly recommended
Good understanding of SCRUM is desired
Education/ Licensing/Certification:
BS Degree or higher
