Microsoft is transforming and the Shared Service Engineering Team (SSE) in Core Services Engineering has an important role in this effort. SSE provides foundational functions and services to groups across, and in many cases outside Core Services Engineering. Our functions and services include strategy, enterprise architecture, modern IT experiences, portfolio management, operational excellence, solution quality, governance, supplier management, accessibility, First & Best, and IT enablement. Our group focuses on activities that will enable the broader IT delivery teams to simplify, accelerate and showcase their solutions and services with excellence. The SSE team has both cross-IT and cross-Microsoft charter part of which includes improving Microsoft services efficiency in driving engineering fundamentals and standards (ITVSO, IT Telemetry etc.), common engineering tools, optimizing processes and policies to enable every engineer in OneIT to accelerate delivery of end to end experiences for customers and optimal value for Microsoft.
SSE is looking for an experienced Senior-level Software Engineer to drive key aspects of the cross-Microsoft enterprise services transformation. The ideal candidate will play a significant role working with other senior technical engineering PMs, SWEs, and Architects across Microsoft to identify opportunities, coordinate solutions (adjust priorities, define new features, co-design/develop, etc), and accelerate delivery of key technology services and capabilities to improve and ensure the best end-to-end customer and employee experiences.
Responsibilities:
• Working collaboratively with top engineers across Microsoft to drive effective technical solutions
• Coordinating with Microsoft IT and PG leadership in project and strategy reviews
• Driving the company’s strategy and technical/data architecture for key technologies to achieve cross-company goals and alignment
• Architect, design, write and deliver high quality software that powers ever increasing demands of availability, reliability, security and performance of IT core tools.
• Stay on top of industry trends, standards from security and scalability perspective to Lead and influence design decisions to build services right ground up.
• Driving code and design reviews and take them closure.
Qualifications:
• Successful candidate must have great technical aptitude, great communication and cross-group skills, strong customer focus, a can-do attitude and the ability to jump in and get the job done in a fast-paced and stimulating environment.
• Should have a Computer Science or related degree, plus a minimum of 8 year experience in designing and delivering enterprise-class solutions, as well as familiarity with Microsoft .NET technologies (C# and the .NET Framework) and/or competitive offerings (e.g. J2EE, WebLogic or WebSphere). Candidates should have previous experience with multiple product release cycles and should have at least 2 years of experience managing a team.
• 10+ years software development experience in full product cycle: design, development, release and maintenance
• BS or MS degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in C# with solid analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
• Good at design patterns and their application.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with teams in delivering world class support experience.
• Experience with some of the following: Azure, oData, WebAPI (Or any equivalent cloud platform), Micro services is a plus.
• Experience with ASP.NET, MVC, or WCF/WebAPI is a mandatory
