Must have exp. in Always On, Replication, Clustering MS SQL Server Database Engineer We are seeking a highly motivated, customer focused, solutions oriented, Senior Database Engineer. This position is accountable for building, managing, operating, and continuously improving Database and Tools Infrastructure that support Comcast's customer facing applications, back-office, and provisioning infrastructure in a 7*24 environment. Examples of infrastructure include, but are not limited to large-scale server complexes, multi-terabyte DBs, and developing/supporting enterprise class management and monitoring tools. Positions focus on architecting, building, deploying and stabilizing code, services, systems, tools; driving standardization and service focused instrumentation; provides subject matter expertise; resolving break/fix scenarios, engaging broader teams as necessary; and partnering/leading vendors and regions to achieve continuous improvement. Contributes to command and control related activities focused on restoration of complex outages, communication across Comcast, and rapid restoration. Works and directly leads external vendors, 3rd parties, and associated agencies when necessary to address issues across the infrastructure. Takes lead on issue resolution activities, using knowledge of complex and company-wide systems. This position requires a high level knowledge of MS SQL Server and emergent NOSQL technologies. In depth understanding of database concepts, availability, performance, usage and configuration. Ability to setup, troubleshoot and tune complex standard and non-standard replication. Uses knowledge of existing database platforms to evaluate and recommend new technologies. Creates and maintain database policies, standards and overall documentation including availability, replication, availability, and backup & recovery policy, service level agreement, baseline architecture, change management, security, audit violations and risk acceptance. Knowledge and experience with SQL Server database concepts, design, architecture, operations and systems. Ability to install and support MS SQL Server releases SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2012, and SQL Server 2014. Adept at configuring Highly Available solutions using Microsoft Clustering. Must have production support experience supporting SQL Server 2012 using Always On and configuring Availability Groups for access across data centers. Must have project experience configuring and supporting data replication. Well versed with administering Microsoft servers and Windows Operating Systems. Microsoft Azure Pack architecture experience a plus. Functional infrastructure experience supporting Couchbase, Hadoop, Mongodb, Cassandra databases. Experience to include installation, performance tuning, database monitoring, database backup/recovery, capacity management, high availability and replication. Required to oversee technical architecture details of projects from inception to launch. Ability to multi-task and prioritize with little to no supervision Ability to work well under pressure Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance Excellent communication skills Highly driven, highly involved, highly proactive Experience building and support SQL Server 2014 and 2016 versions a plus. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary. Must be able to support 24x7 on-call rotation.
