Responsible for documenting and testing web sites, products, and applications at the highest levels from product inception, immediately following approval of the business case, through testing and release. Responsibilities include all aspects of test planning, test development and test execution. Work with design team during requirement definition, prototyping and design activities. Collaborate with various product groups and design teams to oversee and participate in the writing of project/test plan documentation. Develop metrics for measurement of test results and implements as appropriate. Work with other departments to provide status updates/reports throughout the testing process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Participate in requirements definition meetings , design walkthroughs and prototyping sessions
• Review site/application requirement documents and develop metrics for assessing compliance of delivered products to those requirements
• Review requirement specifications and technical design documents to ensure metrics can be measured
• Design, write and fulfill test plans and test scripts
• Determine nature of testing to be performed and identify tasks that should be manual vs. those that can be automated
• Construct test scripts to facilitate the execution of test cases (manual and automated)
• Perform all dimensions of testing, including performance, integration and system-level testing
• Provide input/status updates regarding test progress/results
• Assist with setup and installation of test platforms
• Provide team and end-user training where needed
• Participate in the Alpha and Beta testing of company products and applications
• Assist product and development groups in resolving technical issues (e.g. design, links)
• Report and maintain software defects of defect management system
• Operate under minimal supervision
• Perform post-release certification testing after hours as requested
• Create Release Notes and other end-user facing documentation such as FAQ & User Guides
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
• College Degree in Computer Science or an Engineering discipline preferred. Equivalent experience may be acceptable
• Requires 7+ years software quality assurance testing as part of a formal QA test organization
• 2+ years web testing required
• Minimum of 1 year test automation required
• Experience testing applications under MS-DOS, Windows and Internet operating environments
• Experience with TFS preferred and MIS Test Manager 2010 preferred
• Exposure to internet development languages preferred
• Demonstrated project leadership skills
• Experience writing basic SQL Queries
• Must be flexible and occasionally available after normal business hours to test production releases and other QA testing as needed
• Attention to detail and highly organized
• Excellent proofreading, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to change direction and reprioritize abruptly
• Flexible to work extended hours as needed specifically during monthly release cycles
